Description:
Polo is mellow and playful. Not a mean bone in his body. He also has beautiful coloring. The brindle matches his eyes. He loves all people and especially loves other dogs. He always gives the other dogs kisses even new dogs that he meets. He is house trained and now he is potty trained. He does not bother anything in the house. He is allowed on one love seat and a stool and never goes on the other sofa or bed. He sleeps on the floor at the bottom of the bed with out restraint. I crate him when I am at work for about 9 hours but come home for lunch to let all the dogs out. He crates well with out a lot of fuss and even goes in the crate to take a nap from time to time. But if you leave to walk the other dogs and leave him behind he will cry for the entire time you are gone. So you will have to take him with you. For the most part he is a quiet dog. If you lay down he usually lays down. He does get excited and barks a bit when I come home, or when we first go for a walk or when he meets new people. He does not bark at folks or dogs passing buy but if they are coming into his yard he will. He is good on a leash and easy to walk but if you want to run with him you will have to get him used to healing because he tends to zig zag in front of you. He will heal perfectly with some effort on your part. He also knows sit but seems to know it better if there is some sort of reward involved. He does not come when he is called but this may change with some training and treats. But he would need a fenced in yard. He loves to just run in the yard. My fence is 5 foot.
Polo loves to play with other dogs and wants to be part of the pack. He tries to get my old dogs to play by romping around them but if they ignore him he goes away. He is respectful of my older dogs but will play endlessly if he has a willing playmate. I would really love to see him go into a home with another playful dog or two, or perhaps reunited with his brother Marco. He is mainly submissive and would probably get along with any dog. We do not know about cats. He appears to be good with kids also. I have become very fond of Polo and feel he would be a wonderful addition to any family. If you think you can give him a good home and lots of love please fill out an application and consider adopting him. I promise you that you won’t be sorry. He really is a very special dog.
Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.
The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
