UPDATE 12/06/15:
Dela has had all her treatments for Heart worm and thrived through it like the champ she is! The next steps include starting her on heart worm preventative monthly, being spayed and in a few months she will have a test to check to make sure the heart worm is gone! She wants to get more active, although her activity is still limited to be safe with the heart worm treatment she’s received. The vet and I believe she will have a full, healthy long life ahead of her.

UPDATE 11/04/15:
Over the last couple months since we have had Dela, we've learned many things about her. She's had some small health issues. Currently, Dela is schedule for her 2nd of 3 treatments for heart worm in the very near future. She did amazing with her first treatment last month with little side effects and handled it like the champ she is! However, she did have a few accidents in the house for the first two weeks after her treatment. Since then she hasn't had one accident. I feel it may be a bit of a side effect from the treatment and we needed to learn her signs of when she needs to be let out.

Next, we have learned she is a huge cuddler and loves to be in the same room with us all the time. She has a big wiggle butt which just goes and goes when we come home from work/school. She rarely jumps up on us. She loves to sneak kisses and lay herself on my lap on the couch. She is not to keen on the crate but we are working on it and hopeful. She is treat responsive too which makes learning better/easier with her.  She does well on walks and outside in the back yard. She does so well with our dog. However, she needs a slow introduction when meeting new dogs as she has a fear of strangers. We are working on this and she's getting much better when meeting with human strangers.

August 2015 I was rescued by LDDR:
Hey my name is Dela. My foster parents say I'm very sweet, loving, youthful, and energetic. I have one blue eye and one brown eye. I'm white with some black patches. My foster parents say I'm unique. I'm still teaching them all about myself.  I play well with other dogs my size although there's been no opportunity to play with smaller dogs yet. I like to instigate play time with my foster brother where I nudge him in the neck a few times to let him know it's play time. When he's done playing I try to stop and usually I catch his subtle hints and lay down or play with my new toys. My foster brother shares his toys with me and I love to share my new toys with him. I have a 15 year old human foster brother and man do I love him. He has my crate set up in his room with a big comfy kong bed in it and I love to fall asleep looking at him. When I got nervous the first few nights he comforted me and I slept all night. I haven't had any accidents in the house and when I have to go potty; I go to the front or back door and dance around to let my foster parents know it is time. I'm a bit nervous of stairs and had a hard time adjusting to going out the back door because of those stairs. But, if I stay close to the door when it is time to go out, I can now go in and out better. I'm also learning commands like sit, stay and easy when they give me treats. My new foster parents say I'm a good alarm system since I tend to bark at walkers while we are outside. Inside, I'm a bit more quite. I like to lie next to my foster mom on the couch and snuggle. I love belly rubs. The more belly rubs the better. Could you be my new furever home?

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The  petfinder.com  system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
