Description:

Hello. I’m Diamond.  My foster mom guesses that I am about 2 to 3 years old based on how much energy I have and how I like to play.  I’m a mommy to 9 puppies but I’ve been spayed so I never have to do that again!  I was a great mom and wanted to nurse even when they had their teeth and it hurt.  I even played with my puppies appropriately, but every once in a while I barked and they got scared.  I really like to bark when I play.

Now that my puppies have been adopted, it is time for me to find my forever home.  I was an outdoor only dog before I came to LDDR.  However, my foster mom is super impressed with how quickly I’ve adapted to indoor life.  I’m potty trained and I LOVE my crate.  I go in willingly.  I would prefer to sleep in your bed, but I will sleep in my bed or crate by your bed (but please don’t put me in a separate room from you – I LOVE people.)  My foster mom crates me during the day because I like to chew.  So far, I only chew on toys, but she’s worried that I may make a bad choice if I’m unsupervised.  At night, she leaves my create door open which is in their bedroom.  I sleep on my bed (outside of my crate) and I have not gotten into anything.

I whine when I want to go outside or sit by the door and bark.  My foster mom is trying to get me to ring the bells like my foster sister does…however, I’m not interested.  I like to use my words instead.  Speaking of using my words, I like to talk to you to get you to play with me.  Some people may think I’m being mean, but I’m really just excited and I have to use my words to express it!

I love toys.  My current favorite is a neon pink toy that looks like a log and has lots of plastic nubs to chew on.    I love to play tug-of-war with anything!.  I’ve learned that when you take my ball you are going to throw it, but I could use some work on the command “give.”  However, I could play fetch until I pass out, so you will always have a good way to exercise me.

My foster family, before the snow fell, would take me bike riding with them on a really cool bike attachment called Springer-American.  It is so cool because I can’t pull them over or affect them while they are riding.  However, I get to run – which when it is motivated by squirrels or balls, I love.  I’m not sure I like to run for fun because it interferes with my ability to smell.  I would probably do really well in a nose work class where I could be trained to find things by smell.

My second favorite activity is cuddling, or maybe it is equal with toys.  I love to give kisses and cuddle.  I like to be all over you – so be prepared for a 55 pounds lap dog.  My foster mom thinks this may gradually reduce as I gain confidence that I am not going to be left outside alone again.  You may need to come outside with me while I go potty for a while until I am confident that you will let me back inside.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
