Hello! My name is Arla and I am a 3-year old German Shepherd mix. I am a sweet, beautiful girl looking for my furever home. I may take a little bit to warm up to you, but once I do, all I'll want to do is be around you. I love cuddles and belly rubs from my favorite people. I love to be outside to watch the birds, squirrels and bunnies (I do wish I could chase and catch them though). I'm still working on being fully leash-trained as I get so excited by my surroundings and want to sniff and explore everywhere. When left alone, I do best in a consistent safe space until you return. If I feel nervous when you are gone, I sometimes will use the bathroom inside, but when you're home or I feel fully comfortable, I am fully house trained. I will do best in a home where I am the only pet as I bond strongly with my caretaker and can be wary of other dogs. I am wary of children as they can be unpredictable. These behaviors stem from my desire to protect my caretaker as I LOVE my caretakers more than anything in the world.
I am heartworm positive and am receiving treatment, which is fully funded by the rescue. This means that I need to stay relaxed and not be too active until my treatment is complete. I love mellow walks, belly rubs, cuddles and just being around my favorite people!
Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting.
