Description:
Hi! My given name is Miss Congeniality (back from my show-dog days), but since I've retired everybody just calls me Alley for short. After my show days were over I spent two years in a partially-enclosed kennel with very little interaction so I was very grateful when my foster dad took me into his home. I'm slow to trust new people but once I do I'll follow you everywhere! My dad says I'm very well behaved on a leash and around the home. I am also crate trained. He taught me some basic commands like sit, down, potty, but I have problems with "wait" because I don't want to be alone again!
I do best when someone is around, even if they're not actively engaged with me. I feel better just knowing someone is around. I won't turn down a snuggle or a belly rub, but companionship is what I crave. My foster dad doesn't have any other animals, so he's unsure if a four-legged companion would be a good way to keep me from being lonely during the day. I am good with older kids.
Due to my being older I'm not as
spry as I once was, and I'm mostly blind in my left eye. But not even bumping into things gets me down! I'll still jump in excitement when I get to see my family after a long day!
I might hide a bit when I first meet you, but I'll be the most loyal family member you'll ever have!
Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.
The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
